Fantasy Land
Developer: William Cairns (CairnsWM)
You have just been promoted to the rank of Baron. To celebrate the event the king has allocated a small village on the Welsh border for you to manage.
You wend your weary way to Morganstoke and find a small village nestled amongst the mountains. Your responsibility as baron is to develop the little village of Morganstoke into a stable environment where the economy is stable and the resident heroes can protect the village while attending to the various quests that come up from time to time.
Click on circles to build village buildings. You need to gather resources to call heroes, pay the kings tithe and maintain your buildings. Keeping the villagers happy is important but don't forget the marauding tribesmen just beyond the village walls. Scouts and patrolling heroes can stop the tribesmen attacking.
Buildings cost resources to build. Right click on the building icon to see the building costs. Only certain buildings can be built on each building spot.

To Assign a hero to a task, click on the hero then on an action in the control area.
The following tasks can be assigned:
Scouting - Send hero to scout the ' area. Reports back on Tribe attitudes.
Patrol - Sends hero
to passify local tribes. Needs to find tribes first.
Quest - Sends
hero on a quest. Heroes can die on a quest or become famous. Often
bring back treasure with them.
Recall - Call the hero back from scouting or patrolling tasks.
Heroes don't work for nothing (except the Pizza Boy who works for peanuts instead) and thus need to be paid each turn. The hero description screen (Right Click) will show the maintenance fee payable each turn for the hero.
This fee is payable even when the hero is on a quest. If you don't have the gold to pay, the villagers will become unhappy.
Local tribes that get Jealous of the success of your village may decide to attack it.
By keeping some of the heros at within the village they will fight the attacking tribe. Tribes that successfully fight the defensers may sack a building or pillage some of your resources.
Once a tribe has attacked they will stay away until the become jealous again.
Any real fantasy world has numerous Quests to send heros on. These quests can vary from rescuing helpless damsels to slaying powerful dragons. Quests may result in the death of a hero, or may make the village rich because of the success of the hero.
Multiple heroes can attempt the same quest but they do it individually and not as a team.
To send a hero aQuesting, click on the Quest Task link. Choose the relevant quest to send the hero on and wait until he returns.
Heros cannot be recalled from a quest. they must either succeed or die trying.
Quests typically take from 6 months to two years to complete.
The difficulty of a quest is not defined in clear terms, but' is subjective. Killing a dragon will always be more difficult than killing an Ogre. But killing an old dragon is more difficult than a young dragon.
Read the description of the Quest carefully, it will contain clues to its difficulty.
Look for clues to the magical nature of a quest in its description. A quest to defeat a Sorceress clearly need magical skills. Some quests may be able to use brute force or magical skills, such as a quest against a dragon.
Quests may give the hero a magical item when conquered.
All medieval villages swear allegiance to a king. Mostly the king just leaves you alone. However he does expect to be paid a yearly tithe. The tithe can be paid late. But each three months late will make the king upset. A happy king can help the village. An unhappy king will not. You don't need to keep the king happy if you feel you can do without The Kings Knight.
Not implemented
If your village is in good standing with the King, he will offer to send you a knight. This hero will cost you nothing. But if the king becomes unhappy with you he will recall the Knight. This knight is one of the stronger heroes in the game and is well worth maintaining.
